Watching an artist grow to something extraordinary is always a once in a lifetime thing, and in this case I give you Houston native Travi$ Scott. I remember the first time seeing his visual for “Lights (Love Sick),” and wondering what the hell I just watched, but in a very pleasant way. The film consists of crazy flashing lights in all different colors, and I felt extreme sympathy for anyone who watched the clip who suffered with epilepsy, but if you made it out, you witnessed greatness. From that point on, I knew La Flame would make it to the top of everyone’s playlist, despite of what some idiots on my Facebook timeline said when I constantly posted his music (stupid hypocrites, you guys are now quoting his lyrics). Upon the release of “Lights” in January of 2012, Travis released “16 Chapels” and it was cold as can be, and it that really ignited the blog love and broadened his fan base. A near two weeks after the release of that record, he came through with the Lex Luger-produced “XX,” which also shocked the ears of many. After starving his fans for nearly one month, he finally gave us “Animal” which shockingly featured the one and only T.I.. I never thought it would get to that point, but it did and I personally felt accomplished although I didn’t do anything for him. I could go on and on with his fast climb to the top of the totem pole, but I’d prefer to go on with my track by track review of his most recent astonishing piece of work, Owl Pharaoh.
